Illegal Street Trading and Obstructions

All licensed street traders must display their license or a stall card if trading in our markets, kiosks, on private land and scattered sites.

All licenses contain conditions, which the license holder is expected to comply with, that help to ensure pavements are kept clear of obstructions so that everyone can move about safely.

The same applies to businesses displaying advertising boards and setting out tables and chairs on the public highway, including using shop fronts to display their goods.

If you suspect a trader is illegally trading or causing a highway obstruction, report it to us. We can investigate the matter and take enforcement action if there is evidence to support this.

Email us at neighbourhood.patrol@islington.gov.uk.
