Band A

Band B

Band C

£131.80

£88.90

£53.50

Management fees

The following fees are the same for all three bands.

  • New application (management fee): £1,000.70
  • Renewal (management fee): £559.50

Working out your fee

Your fee is the sum of the:

  • management fee
  • price per square metre of area required

For example, if you have 10 square metres in band A, your price per square metre of area will be: £131.80 x 10 = £1,318.

Your total fee for a renewal in band A is: Management fee of £559.50 plus £1,318 = £1,877.50.

Renewals and changes

The licence must be renewed each year. The following fees are the same for all three bands.

  • Variation fee for licensee or premises name change: £88.90
  • Changing the number of chairs and tables: £160

Refusal of application

The following fee is the same for all three bands.

  • Non-refundable charge in case of early determination of refusal of application: £190

After you apply

When we have received your application, we will arrange for a site visit so that we can:

  • assess the footway
  • advise you on what street furniture is appropriate for the area
  • guide you through the rest of the process

We must consult interested parties by law. This lets the public and council staff comment on your licence application.

How long for a licence

The process normally takes 8 weeks.

You cannot place tables and chairs on a highway until we have issued your licence.
