Adventure playgrounds provide free, safe and supervised outdoor play spaces for children aged 6 and over who live or go to school in Islington.
The adventure playgrounds in Islington are run by three different organisations:
- the council manages four playgrounds
- Awesome Adventure Play manages six playgrounds
- KIDS manages one adventure playground
Children must register with the provider before attending. Choose your playground below to find opening times and registration details.
Cape, Cornwallis, King Henry’s Walk, Three Corners, Waterside and Barnard adventure playgrounds
Managed by Awesome Adventure Play.
Summer holidays opening times
All six adventure playgrounds will be open from Monday 20 July to Friday 28 August, offering free, supervised play for children and young people at these times:
- 10:30am to 1:30pm
- 2:30pm to 5:30pm
Free healthy meal
A free healthy meal will be available for children at all six adventure playgrounds between 12:30pm and 1:30pm in the morning session. This is part of the free Holiday Activities with Food programme.
Childcare Hour for working parents
To support working families, Awesome offers an optional Childcare Hour between 1:30pm and 2:30pm, which costs £6 per child.
Children can remain safely at the playground during the lunchtime closure, so they can attend both the free morning and afternoon play sessions without needing to be collected or taken home.
This option enables a full day of supervised play from 10:30am until 5:30pm, with families only having to pay the one-hour childcare session.
