Keeping homes safe and well-maintained in 2024/25

How we're doing maintaining and protecting your homes from damp and mould, and other safety concerns in 2024/25

Tenancy welfare visits

Over the next three years, we will be carrying out tenancy welfare visits to every tenant.

We want to get to know you better and find out if you have any support needs or are facing any challenges we can help you with. We also would like to know if we need to change the way we work with you.

You can also let us know about any tenancy, repairs or property issues you may have.

Stock condition survey visits

A stock condition survey is an inspection of the fixtures and fittings in your home, such as bathrooms, windows, and doors

This helps us understand what we need to invest in homes in the coming years and find out if there are any issues in your home we have to do something about.

We need access to all tenanted homes to complete surveys. We will also survey outside shared (communal) areas. Ridge surveyors will have ID badges and a letter of authority from us so you will feel confident giving them access to your home.

We have appointed ‘Ridge and Partners LLP’ to be the surveying consultant for us. They will conduct a stock condition survey programme for all council homes over the next few years.

Domestic Abuse Housing Accreditation (DAHA)

We have been awarded the “Whole Housing Accreditation” from DAHA. Islington is the first council in London to receive the accreditation.

This means that our tenancy and homelessness services are designed to provide a high quality of response to domestic abuse, supports survivors and prevent homelessness caused by abuse.

Visit our page about domestic abuse support.

Stonewall Housing accreditation

We are proud to be one of only two councils in the UK to achieve accreditation from Stonewall Housing.

This recognises our work in ensuring that LGBTQ+ residents are treated with respect, dignity, and fairness when accessing housing services. We are committed to inclusive housing policies and services that reflect and respect the diversity of our community.

Visit the Stone Wall Housing website for more about their work.
