How you can help trees in Islington

How to sponsor a tree, report any issues, adopt a tree pit and help water trees in hot and dry weather.

Sponsoring a tree

The Islington Tree map will show you sites that are suitable for planting a new tree (shown in yellow). You can register interest via the map, and the planting team will be in touch to discuss further.

Help water our trees during hot and dry weather

We have over 2,500 young trees across the borough. During hot and dry summer weather, our teams are out every day watering them but young trees need up to 80 litres of water a week. We'd love to have your help watering them.

How you can help

  • If you’re walking by, top up the green watering bag, pour water into the pipe or water the soil around the tree.
  • You can reuse rainwater, bath water or even leftover washing-up or carwashing water (it’s safe for the trees).
  • Try to water in the morning or evening when it’s cooler — but any time helps.
