Building Regulations

The aspiration of planning policy and its application by development managers are not bound by the strictly defined scope of Building Regulations. The application of Inclusive Design principles is an art; the art of the possible.

Nonetheless, planners have a responsibility to ensure that approved plans have the capacity to comply with Building Regulations. 

In terms of Inclusive Design the key references are:

• Part M - Access to and use of buildings; and

• Part K - Protection from falling, collision and impact.
