A pit lane licence cannot be used for parking vehicles and a maximum time limit will be set for loading and unloading at any one time.
How to apply
You must apply at least 10 working days in advance, to allow enough time for Islington Council to process the licence and ensure the coordination of works. Make sure you enclose the correct documentation as incorrect documentation could delay the process.
To apply, you will need to complete the online application form. As part of the application, you must provide:
- a drawing of the exact location of area to be occupied
- a complete description and extent of works to be carried out on site
- a traffic management plan where traffic flow is affected during use of pit lane while in operation
- pedestrian management plan where pedestrians may be affected during use of pit lane while in operation.
If you will need to suspend parking, you must apply for this separately. Email ParkingSuspensions@islington.gov.uk.
If the pit lane is to be sited in the vicinity of lighting equipment or a lamp column with a 4G cell unit you must contact the street lighting team on 020 7527 2844 or StreetLights@islington.gov.uk to discuss relocation of the lighting equipment. You will be asked to pay a deposit to cover the costs of any damages caused to the lighting equipment that may occur during works.
Fees and payment
Deposits and fees are payable per street. The deposit is calculated at £100 per metre squared of the enclosed area. A deposit is held to cover the costs of any damage caused to the highways that may occur during works.
The total deposit value determines the management fee.
