Freedom Pass travel card

Freedom Pass for older people

The older person’s Freedom Pass gives you free travel on London's public transport if you’re aged over 66 years.

To be eligible you need to:

  • aged over 66 year 
  • live most of your time in London

Freedom Pass if you have disabilities

The disabled person’s Freedom Pass gives you free travel on London's public transport if you’re an adult with disabilities.

Route 812 community bus service

Route 812 Community Bus service will stop running on Friday 26 August 2022, with the last full day of service on Friday 26 August.

We recently received the sad news that the provider of the service, Hackney Community Transport (HCT Group), will no longer be able to operate the service.

Route 812 runs between Bridport Place in Hoxton and Bath Street in Finsbury, Monday – Friday (except bank holidays).

We understand this will impact on your daily journeys. We will review how we can best support service users in the future.

Free mobility scooter hire

A mobility scooter can be essential in keeping you active in the community.

You can use it to go shopping or see friends.

To be eligible to hire one, you must be:

  • aged over 16
  • have a mobility impairment

Scooters are loaned for between 1 to 7 days.

There is currently a waiting list.

Subsidised and free taxis for disabled people

If you have severe disabilities that make it difficult for you to use public transport, you may be eligible for a Taxicard.

It gives you subsidised travel in London taxis.

Dial-a-ride service

Dial-a-ride is a free membership based scheme, delivered by Transport for London, open to London residents who have a permanent or long-term disability which means you are unable to use public transport some or all of the time. 

People are automatically eligible for a membership if they are:

  • A Taxicard member
  • Getting the Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance
  • Getting the Standard or Enhanced Mobility Rate of the Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • Registered blind or partially sighted
  • Aged 85 or over
  • Getting a Higher Rate Attendance Allowance
  • Getting a War Pension Mobility Supplement

If residents are not in one of the above categories, they may still be able to join Dial-a-ride but you will have to undergo a paper-based mobility assessment to establish their eligibility for the service.
